Flooding Update, 22.01.2025

Please see below further update with regards to the flooding hotspot on the Reading Road, between The Fielders and Lindum Nurseries.

Published: 22 January 2025

Eversley Parish Council has today, 22.01.2025, received the following update from Hampshire County Council:

We understand that Thames Water were present on the 15th and 16th January clearing their surface water Sewers. An officer of the County Council observed the sub-contractor to Thames Water clearing roots, litter and a football from two chambers and the connecting pipe. When the contractor was asked whether they were clearing the rest of the Thames Water system back to The Fielders they said no. We have therefore once again reported that we believe the Thames Water pipes to be filled with roots to the utility company.

Our observations following an inspection of the 17th January is however that the work by the Thames Water contractor has made a significant improvement to the functionality of the Thames Water system.

Work ordered in December by the County Council to check the condition of the highway authority’s pipes between The Chequers and Hollybush Lane is scheduled to take place between the 29th and 31st January 2025.

Eversley Parish Council have also requested Hart District Council to clean this section of the Reading Road, due to the amount of mud resident on the carriageway. They have confirmed that they plan to send their road sweepers by the 7th February 2025, and intend to clean the pathways along this section within the same timeframe. It is Eversley Parish Council’s understanding that the pathway will be reopened once it’s been cleaned. We are aware of the damage that has been done to the surface of the pathways, on both sides of the Reading Road and are still awaiting any dates on when any repairs will take place.
