EPC's Chair, Cllr Sharon Stephens, attended the launch of the Collard's Academy Apprenticeship Scheme on Thursday 23rd July 2026

Published: 14 September 2026

Cllr Stephens was delighted to attend the Collards Academy Apprenticeship scheme launch.

This is a fantastic scheme that assists our young people in finding employment within the industry, and turning ambition into qualifications.

To celebrate their 30th anniversary in 2024 they pledged to support 30 apprentices by 2030 and are on track to meet this goal well ahead of their target date having funded a total of 26 apprentices so far.

Out of the 26 apprenticeships they’ve funded in the last few years, 23 apprentices are still directly employed by Collard with 12 having completed their training. They are currently supporting 11 apprentices in various roles across the business including administrators, demolition operatives, HGV drivers and mechanics, as they progress in their training and development.

In addition, this year they are also proud to launch their own fully-funded HGV driver apprenticeship programme, delivered in partnership with TRS Training. Through this partnership, their apprentices receive high-quality training, hands-on experience, and the support needed to become fully qualified drivers within the Collard team with no prior experience required.
